I have another suggestion that might be good for this site, and might interest the admins :)

I am suggesting that there is a database / link to honor top uploaders for each language, i.e top uploaders for English subtitles / Italian subtitles . Naming three or even one is enough to honor the uploaders . It also serves as motivation for the uploaders to create & upload more files here . It is a healthy competition, IMHO .

I know that there is a list of top uploaders for the site, but that is for the total number of subtitles upload, and not based on the language it is translated into .  Besides, trying to be in the list is so so hard (if not entirely impossible) and it may discourage the uploaders (especially the new ones) to try and 'challenge' these top contributors :p

I am only giving suggestion, and pleae don't feel obliged to follow my suggestion for fear that I might get angry if it is not accepted :D

i like the idea, maybe in one of the next versions it'll be added. unfortunately our webmaster is overbusy in this period, and i'm not sure he has the time to make many changes... but we'll keep you posted, and please keep giving us new ideas.

I know exactly what you mean. I took me almost a year to get in the top 20 list...and probably another 10 years to become # 1.

I like the idea of changing the list specs (even though I am in it now). Actually, I really like the system the competion uses over at (*cough*).org ...you know, the one which is not closed :-)

Certainly with such idea, people will be motivated to contribute to this site .

If it took you a year to be in the list, it'll take be ten years (maybe more), and to be #1 is ENTIRELY impossible. Say a subtitle a day, equals 365 subs / year . times dat with ten years, it's 3650 subs . But the thing, it is ridiculous to think one can be committed to make a sub a day, no ? That being said, users feel discouraged before even attempting t fight to be in the list, as they dun see it as motivation, but rather as something that can never be accomplished.

I am certain majority people will like the idea, even though some people may find it a bane because people will tend to upload for the sake of uploading, but then I think it has been happening even before the idea is mooted . 

 Actually, back in the old days uploaders like Sinistral used to upload 3 different subtitle formats (sub, srt and smi, sometimes ssa). So basically you could say, the 12.000 subtitles are really "only" 4.000. And not every subtitle that is uploaded has to be made by you. You just find them ...somewhere, somehow.

And then there are lots and lots of different releases that have different sync, Hearing Impaired and not HI, different languages, improved/edited versions etc. etc. If you really wanted you could upload 1.000 subtitles within a few days. That would include Vaticanish, Cayman-Islandish, Elbish, Orcish, Dwarvish, Ogrish, Mumblish, Rubbish and Antarctish subtitles of countless 1980ies B- and C-movies though... ;-)

Overall, our current system can't be all that wrong with 38.000 uploads this year so far...whatever the reason for uploading subtitles might be, people do it. A lot. I just wished people would stop uploading duplicates, is all. And maybe therefore it might not even be a good thing to encourage people that are only uploading because of a highscore list. Just a thought...

just a lil remark, it wasn't Sinistral who uploaded duplicates, but bullit ;)

By the way Sinistral where are you? I miss you, you were a good admin too!! Come back to us and get your role back :)

I've seen Sinistral upload a few subtitles but I guess he has disappeared..

And when can I become top number 1 subtitle uploader.. I've uploaded 260 subs only

It depends on how obsessed and time you're gonna spend to find or sync or rip or make subtitles.. It's dedication!

I guess some people have read the part about Elbish, Mumblish and Rubbish... :-) So it works. Proof for that will soon appear in the top 20 list...
